AUBURN – Auburn's Derek Varnadore has been named the SEC Pitcher of the Week following his 13 strike out, two-hit shutout of Radford on Sunday afternoon, the conference office announced on Monday.

A junior right-handed pitcher from Athens, Ga., Varnadore clinched the series win for Auburn as he held Radford to just four base runners in the Tigers' 2-0 victory, none of which advanced as far as third. Seven of his 13 strike outs were of the leadoff hitter and four more ended innings. The 13 strike outs were the most by an Auburn pitcher in a game since Chris Bootcheck struck out 15 against West Virginia on March 6, 1999.

In two outings this season, Varnadore has allowed just five hits and three walks, striking out 17 without allowing a run.
