AUBURN – The troubled career of Auburn senior running back Eric Smith is apparently over.
Smith, who has been subject to previous disciplinary actions, has been dismissed from the team following a violation of team rules.
Auburn athletics department spokesman Kirk Sampson confirmed Monday evening that Smith has been dismissed but declined to offer further details.
Smith, a 5-10, 240-pound rising senior from Seffner, Fla., played in 13 games with four starts at h-back for the Tigers.
He finishes his three-year career with the Tigers with 42 carries for 182 yards and one touchdown. He also caught 25 passes for 278 yards and one touchdown.
