Auburn opened camp today 30 minutes late thanks to a passing rainstorm. When the Tigers took to the practice field, they did so with approximately 62 of the 102 total players listed on the roster.
Perhaps the most intriguing news came from a notable no-show both on the practice field and on the updated roster -- WR Philip Pierre-Louis. There is no immediate word on PPL, but Gene Chizik said yesterday around 5 p.m. that he couldn't think of any veterans scheduled to report that had failed to do so.
EDIT: As my colleague Jay G. Tate of the Montgomery Advertiser pointed out at the HABOTN, walk-on RB Justin Albert was also a no-show at practice. He is not listed on the roster either.
Many of the younger players spent the beginning of the split practice inside lifting weights. Four newcomers were there for the start of practice though: freshmen Emory Blake, DeAngelo Benton and Philip Lutzenkirchen and JUCO transfer Nick Fairley.
A few notable non-freshmen were also not outside for the first portion of practice: QB Chris Todd, WR Montez Billings and DE Cam Henderson.
