Auburn signing DeAngelo Benton certainly might not be the steal many on the Plains thought it was.
Here's a story from today's The Advocate, the paper in Baton Rouge, La.:

Basically, it seems it came down to Rueben Randle (and father) telling LSU that if it signed Benton, Randle would look elsewhere. Randle was also considering Oklahoma and Alabama.
Instead of risking Randle leaving for the Crimson Tide, this story makes me think LSU coach Les Miles allowed a high school senior dictate to him.
Miles' choices were simple: allow Benton to go to Auburn or risk Randle going to Alabama. Miles made a business decision. Time will tell if he made the correct business decision.
